C106 / Greenpoint Performing Arts Adaptive Reuse

Design

Originally built in 1950, and last used as a contractors workshop and offices, this standalone building on a charming corner in Greenpoint, Brooklyn was repurposed into the new home for Triskelion Arts in 2014. This non-for-profit arts organization supports “innovative dance artists at every stage of their creative journey, serving as an incubator for their artistic development.”
Process

We retrofitted the two story building with attached large garage into a ground floor performance space with capacity for 119 people, complete with accessible entry, new bathrooms and box office space. Second floor spaces were converted into four dance rehearsal studios, all outfitted with sprung wood dancefloors and available to the dance artist community in Brooklyn.
Impact

We are proud to have helped Triskelion Arts grow into their home as a Brooklyn-based organization dedicated to the growth and celebration of dance in NYC. Today, they are a community resource that provides dance artists and creatives with the space, time, and support needed to develop and present their work.
